Wroclaw Stag Weekends

When people from other Polish cities are asked to name their favourite city in Poland with the exception of the home town, it is Wroclaw that finds itself most commonly mentioned. Indeed it is hailed as the party capital of Poland, with enough pubs and clubs to cater for a city twice its size.

This may be explained by the fact it is the destination for many weekend getaways not only for foreign guests but also for Poles from other parts of the country. People here are very open and friendly, the city centre is beautiful and compact and there is a sense of order that perhaps is only just developing in other Eastern European cities. If you have partied in either Krakow or Prague, you will know the joys of pubs and clubs in underground venues, and Wroclaw has plenty of these.

Wroclaw came to the attention of Stag Weekend organisers as an alternative to its more crowded neighbours, Krakow and Prague. However, from being an atmospheric alternative it has grown into an exciting and unique Stag Weekend destination in its own right. Wroclaw combines Krakow’s beauty and Warsaw’s modernity, blending together the best of Poland’s past and future into one very interesting and beautiful city. To add to its man-made beauty, it is known as "Poland's Venice" due to its setting on the Oder River and the 100 or so bridges that cross the river within City Limits. The Market Square is smaller than those found in the centres of its more famous neighbours, Krakow and Prague, yet it is equally stunning.

The city was formerly a German town (known as Breslau) and it has been back in Polish hands only since 1945. Wroclaw’s inhabitants are a unique bunch as a result; only the second or third generation to live in the city they are some of the most pro-active people in Poland accustomed to creating a new identity for themselves and promoting that identity to the outside world. The city has been, as a result, one the biggest beneficiaries of Poland’s entry to the EU, actively promoting itself as both a business and tourist destination, and succeeding as one and the other.
